I'm off

to Clacton-on-Sea for the weekend. Actual skating, actually indoors. Now if only I had my team.

So, last night...

was fun. No one from CEEDS really showed up but I got to meet a ton of Serb boys (and other people as well). Had some good conversation with a 3rd year from Singapore, who was a lovely sweet girl. Drank more vodka than I have in a while (but only got buzzed not piss-drunk). Spent quite a lot of time laughing at extremely drunk members of the AU. The AU Barrel was on, so members of the AU had been drinking since 11am. Got my ass grabbed by a very drunk male in priests robes. Overall not a great night, but not bad. Better than trying to deal with my writer’s block.

So, I’m in the car with Nick and Duracell Dave, sitting in the back, reading, thinking, and looking out the window. It’s a grey drizzly day. The country we pas through vaguely reminds me of the Skagit Valley, fields followed by suburbs. NO mountains though, so the land feels oddly flat.

On a road now that reminds me of the road out to Whidbey Island from Burlington, before you get to Deception Pass.

In Clacton-On-Sea now. Hotel is facing the ocean! *bounce*

Writer's Block

I’m in my (very cold) hotel room. All the rest are going on a pub-crawl. Supposedly, I’m working on my paper, but I’m journaling instead. I’ll talk about skating specifics later, but right now I miss my team. The mask I wear with them is so much more comfortable than the one here, more me, less cover. For them (the London team) skating is just a fun activity (by and large) they are not speed skaters, they are just skaters and they all know each other. I’m out of place here.

I’m falling asleep over this. Maybe I’ll get an idea. Really too cold to work in here.
