trilliumgrl: (Red Trillium)
Yes, that's right boys and girls last night at 6:40 (just as I was sitting down to watch Buffy) The power went out, again. Dinner was cheese and cracker and cookies, the only things I had which did not require cooking to be edible. I spent most of the evening sitting in the hallway (where we have emergency lighting) chatting with a couple of flatemates, and headed to bed around 10 or 10:30. Luckily I didn't have anything pressing to do, but this has blown my study/play schedule for the weekend. As well, I effectively haven't been on-line since Wednesday at around noon, so I'll do an update later, as I need to play catch-up. Blerg. At least it's back on now. Let's hope it stays that way, for as someone said last night "I'm not paying to go to school in a 3rd world country"

Hrm, not sure I would have gone for that, but oh well. Off to shower and grocery shop. I'm cold and need food.

This is for [livejournal.com profile] technocracygirl:

Wednesday - finished my paper, without actually putting any analysis (beyond a rant) and no ethnograpghy in it. Turned paper in at noon, when it was due. Forgot I had a linking seminar at 4 and nearly went home (oops!). Waiting to go to seminar I went back at 3:30 to check that he had really picked it up. This was the point when I discovered that I had put the paper in the wrong box! Completely ignoring the big, red arrow directing me to Prof. Parry's box, I had (very carefully) put it into the box above his. I then returned all my books to the library.

Thursday - Changed my plans 5 different times, because I kept forgetting that I needed to go to a speech about jobs at the UN and the meeting with Prof. Parry. I will note at this point that both items were written quite clearly in my day planner, which is my constant companion. Finally get everything done. Near the end of my meeting with Parry (long torturous and not happy) I realize that among the books I returned to the library the day before was the copy of Expectations of Modernity that I had borrowed from Courtney. Cut to me running to the library immediately after the meeting.

As you can see I have been a huge flake for the last few days. To add to it, I just realized that I came back from the grocery store without my vitamins, which I also neglected to put on my list, but which were the reason for me going shopping today rather than later, as I could have survived a little bit longer on what I had. Good thing I have a bus pass today.

Thumb So I came to campus to get my thumb looked at. My x-rays had turned up and I don't have a fracture. Frankly, give my bone structure of DOOM (thanks dad) I thought a fracture was unlikely. What I seem to have done is sprained my muscles way back in history, which is now going arthritic on me. Fun. So I've been given a prescription for a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, told to keep my hands warm, massage it, and exercise my thumb. Whoa ho. At least it progress.

Flaky The plan was to go to the doctor, pick up some copies from the copy center, get my reading for Parry from the library, and if I had time do some reading before ballet class at 4. The copies aren't yet done, a fact I can live with. On the other hand I forgot ALL of my reading lists at home, meaning that I can't even pick up reading for my other classes, much less the stuff for Parry. Grrr.

.....wait, just had an idea. I still have my reading lists stored on my H space! Go me
*wanders off to finish email and look up AN 430 stuff*
