Most Boring Job EVER
Sep. 19th, 2003 10:14 amYesterday I went (waaay)out to Eastlake for this 1/2-day temping-for-another-temp assignment. It was the most dull job ever. I sat at a desk at a mortgage firm and occasionally (once every maybe 10 minutes) the phone rang. Since there were only two people in the office it was pretty easy. They had nothing else for me to do so I:
- cleaned out my notebook
- planned out today
- hand-wrote a really long email to a friend in London
- read 100+ pages of Neverwhere
Not only was I bored, but I felt vaguely guilty for sitting about reading. Unfortunately there was nothing else to be done. The best part? I get to go back for another 4 hours today because this woman needs coverage again. This sucks since it totally cuts into my plans for the day and means I get no real job searching done. The flip side though, is that the money (however pitiful) will be good. I like it when income flows in.
Yesterday was made much better by getting to hang with
seanb in the U-district (which has been terribly poshed-up) having some dinner and chatting. Greek food and chai are both good things, though the man does need to be introduced to Mr. Spot's and the restorative glory that is Morning Glory Chai. :)
That's about it, I've got errands to run and I have to catch an early lunch before heading out for another 4 hours of paid boredom. One thing you can say about my old job - it was hardly ever dull.
