Regionals blew.
Skated like death.
Friends got hurt.
Not quite Haiku but I don't feel like editing right now. I'm chillin at Cody's fairly kicking party, but I am sooo not feeling party like. I think watching everyone I know who skated get injured, from my coach to my competition just took the wind out of me.
I know it''s the end of the season and generally we are all hurting by June, but this just seemed worse somehow. Maybe it was because there were so few people there. The last time I skated regionals you could barely walk through the rink, it was so crowded. Now? I even found more than one place to lay on the ground and stretch. With no teams from Utah and most of the other teams smaller than in years past, it just wasn't the same. The energy in the building was seriously lacking. For gods sake, there was only 3 Senior men skating!!!! When there are twice as many Senior women as Senior men skating and the women don't even have heats, something is wrong.
I should stop bitching, but I can't seem to exorcise these demons. I succeeded in covering for a bit, but I have spent most of the day being quite, sleeping, and reading. Ahh escape from reality. The only interesting reality that got me going for more than a few seconds was the extradition law passing in Yugoslavia, and that somehow felt forced as well. Stupid brain.
I started reading "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson. Pretty damm cool.
Feel need to go listen to Cowboy Junkies "Common Disaster" Will go hide in car now with CD player.
