Today's Dullness

Got up late after staying up until nearly 3am watching The Cider House Rules (pretty good) followed by four episodes of 24. I love that show, no matter how bad your day, it will never be as bad a day as Jack Bauer and co are having. :)
Read a bit, ate a bit, read a bit more. Got some academic reading and well as novel reading done. Left the house long enough to buy my sunday paper, which I'm not sure even qualifies as leaving the house.
Went downstairs to watch the newest episode of 24 and then ended up watching the news followed by Waterworld. There is nothing like watching this stuff with a guy from Rochester and a guy from North India. Welcome to the LSE.
Now it's 1:30, I'm going to check my email, read a bit, brush my teeth and go to bed.

Before I do that though..... MONKEYS!!!!!

Yeah, I don't think I'm going anywhere today. I'll be a good girl and finish Totemism.

Totemism

Okay I finished the book. Frankly I'm more than a little confused by the book. This could be due to a crappy translation, as Levi-Strauss wrote the original in French. I could just be really tired and need time to process it all. This is my hope. Tomorrow I go to the library to get the other book on my list from Parry, The Savage Mind. Hopefully when put together they will (a)make some sort of sense and (b) allow me to write coherently about Levi-Strauss' Structuralism and how he "posits a similarity between two systems of difference". Gah. If my brain refuses to make sense out of this stuff, I have a problem.

This could just be my headache talking.
