Kyna's Journal

So, I am still alive and I have 17 days left until my cast comes off (not like I'm counting or anything). I want to thank all of you for your lovely offers to keep me company. I have not taken you up on them, because generally speaking I have been exhausted. I make it work everyday and I come home, fall onto the couch and ice my leg and that is about all I am good for. I am also unpleasant to be around, since most of my vaunted independence has been stripped away and I have to ask Sean to do most things for me. This has made me a bit cranky. Even going out is difficult. We went to the ballet last Friday and sitting that long after having been to work caused my leg to swell in all sorts of unpleasant ways. So for now I sit at home and rest.

That said, once the cast comes off, I have plans to attempt to do all sorts of stuff. I won't be allowed to skate for several more months and I want to keep myself occupied and be able to see some people I don't see nearly enough.

Right now, the main front runners include:
- Potluck dinner maybe combined with a movie or game night
- Thrift store outing
- Trip to watch the Oly Rollers roller derby in Olympia

Any thoughts? Would you like to join me for any of this? Other ideas?

In other news I will be at Norwescon this weekend. I have rented a wheelchair, so you'll need to look a little lower to find me. Hopefully, this will make it a bit easier to get around, since using my crutches is rather tiring and I risk being knocked over. I am looking forward to seeing everyone as well as seeing Cory Doctorow, though I don't think I'll ask him to sign my Kindle.

Now I have to contemplate making it to the kitchen to get the dinner Sean left for me.
