Promised Update
Dec. 8th, 2001 10:24 pmOkay, okay I know I promised this a while back, but I'm a busy little flower right now. I have finally finished my update over what on earth I've been doing for the past month and change. Be prepared, this could get lengthy…..
* Car About 3 weeks ago I rear ended some guy during that spat of really bad rain. I was going very slowly and the only thing that took damage was my car's front bumper. I got the bumper replaced for a mere $275 (versus almost $600 for a new one), but I was without a car for about 3 weeks. I got the mom-mobile back on Tuesday the 3rd, and I am a much happier camper now that I can go grocery shopping without having to go ask for a ride (thanks Kathy!).
* Job I still have one. They hired me on permanently (at least until I run off to London), and boy are we busy. Lots of people hurting themselves and trying to use up their insurance benefits before the end of the year. It's not perfect but it's a job and most of the time it's not too bad.
* Skating First of all I do a lot of it. Even with me skipping the Tuesday evening practices in Auburn (I've gone twice and popped my hip both times this season) I'm still skating 5 days a week. The team keeps getting bigger (we just got 2 more newbies this week), but in many ways it's still the same old Southgate I know and love. Our first meet is in Lynwood next weekend and I'm already a touch nervous. I have 3 relays plus my individual races, which is more than I've raced in years. Should be great fun.
What isn't fun is the fact that I have had my new pair of skating boots sitting in customs for over 4 weeks now (they were supposed to be here in 2 weeks). After 6 weeks of waiting and annoyance from my old boots, I'm getting kind of antsy. Grrrrr
* The Move Was completed at the start of November with more than a little help from Holly, Joe, Kat and Jen W. (Thanks!). I am now residing with my mum in a lovely 2-bed, 2-bath apartment in Burien. My room still isn't together, but it should be soon, since I just bought some bookcases this evening. We have free cable, fireplace, a dishwasher, washer and dryer, and my computer has it's own phone line. Best of all I'm about 5 minutes away from my rink. The 30 minute after-practice drives that used to kill me are now a thing of the past. Goddess I love it. BTW if you did not get an email about my new digs, let me know because I got a lot of bounces when I sent the announcement out.
That's pretty much it. I spend my days lifting weights, working, and skating. If you want to get a hold of me give me a call, since my email only gets checked once a day at best.
Now it is time for bed since I have to drive up to Gahan's wedding in B'ham tomorrow and then come right back down for practice. Busy day, but at least I get to see Marci, Cody, Luke, Kiale, Sean, and all the rest. I miss them. *sigh* Off to bed with my clean sheets now.
